At the ACI Europe 2025 Annual Conference in Athens, Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, called on EU Member States to urgently invest in new technologies and workforce recruitment to reduce flight delays and strengthen air transport resilience, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia

Addressing over 500 airport executives and aviation leaders, Tzitzikostas outlined four priorities for sustainable and competitive aviation: airspace capacity, competitiveness, decarbonisation, and efficiency. He emphasized the need for innovation, sustainable fuels, resilience, and updated legislation.

He also revealed that a legislative review is underway to improve airport operations, including airport charges, slots, and ground services. The conference explored key trends and challenges facing the aviation sector, including climate change and geopolitical tensions.
