The Interreg BorPres2 project, a major cross-border initiative between Greece and North Macedonia, will officially launch at noon on Thursday at the Prespes Town Hall in Lemos, with Greek Interior Minister Thodoris Livanios presiding, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

The €7.5 million EU co-funded project will establish a new border crossing between Lemos (Greece) and Markova Noga (North Macedonia), under the Interreg IPA Cross Border Cooperation Program ‘Greece–North Macedonia 2021–2027’.

BorPres2 includes building new customs and police facilities in Greece, upgrading police infrastructure in North Macedonia, and creating a cross-border walking trail connecting Aghios Germanos and Brajchino. The 36-month initiative aims to boost regional connectivity and economic growth.

Key stakeholders include the Region of Western Macedonia (lead partner), both countries’ interior ministries, and the municipalities of Prespes and Resen.

Dignitaries expected at the launch include Greek Deputy Interior Minister Kostas Gkioulekas, North Macedonia’s Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, Local Government Minister Zlatko Perinski, and EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas.
