Moldova Joins EU Cyber Defense Network

Moldova will now be able to access technical assistance, equipment, and expert support from the European Union to protect critical infrastructure—such as energy systems, communications, and hospitals—from cyber threats, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

This development follows the Moldovan government’s approval of a draft law enabling the country to join the EU's cybersecurity reserve, a rapid-response mechanism designed to counter large-scale cyberattacks.

“With this instrument, specialized teams can quickly intervene to protect the state's infrastructure,” said Ina Voicu, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. “It strengthens our national cyber defense and deepens Moldova's integration into the European digital space.”

This step was made possible through an amendment to Moldova’s participation in the EU's Digital Europe Programme (2021–2027), which supports the digital transformation of European economies and societies.
