Milan plot sensational Modrić signing
Renowned transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano reports that Milan have approached former Real Madrid legend Luka Modrić, who is now a free agent, to realise his long-held dream of playing at the San Siro, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The Croatian midfielder has ended his contract with Real Madrid after 13 glorious years, during which he won every possible trophy at club level.
Although he turns 40 in September, Modrić is still keen to continue his career as a footballer. Inter Miami in the US and Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia are two of the possible options for him.
According to Romano, Milan's new sporting director, Igli Tare, has personally contacted Modrić to see if he would be interested in an adventure in Serie A and at Milan.
A move to Milan would represent a new experience for Modrić, who has played in his homeland (Croatia), in England with Tottenham (2008–2012) and in Spain with Real Madrid since 2012.
Since he is a free agent, Milan would be able to offer him a hefty salary, perhaps even with the help of sponsorship deals.
According to "MilanNews.it", Modrić has previously stated that he has been a Milan fan since childhood, which for the Rossoneri is a great hope to convince him to finally wear the red and black jersey.
"Modrić is a true Milanista. He has been since he was a child and he always wanted to come here, but it never became anything serious. He didn't want to leave Real Madrid after a poor season," revealed former Milan manager Zvonimir Boban.
New Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is also interested in working with the Croatian star.
