Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov met with European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth Wopke Hoekstra on Thursday to discuss key EU climate policies, the Ministry of Environment reported, CE Report quotes BTA

The talks focused on the EU’s 2040 climate targets, energy transition, funding mechanisms, the Emissions Trading System, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and the Clean Industrial Deal.

Genov highlighted Bulgaria's challenges in the green transition, stressing the need for public support and sufficient investment. Hoekstra thanked him for the opportunity to exchange views.

The meeting was also attended by Yordanka Chobanova, head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria. Hoekstra’s visit is part of a broader tour across EU member states, including meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.
