Greece on FTSE Watch List for Upgrade
FTSE Russell has confirmed that Greece will stay on its Watch List for a potential reclassification from "advanced emerging" to "developed market" status, with the next evaluation scheduled for September 2024, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
Currently classified as an advanced emerging market, Greece must meet several criteria to be upgraded, including the FTSE's 22 quality standards, minimum market capitalization, and number of securities, based on data from December 31, 2024, and June 30, 2025. Greece also needs a "High" Gross National Income per capita and an investment-grade credit rating from major rating agencies.
While Greece already meets most of the requirements, its credit rating is under review after an upgrade by Moody’s. The final assessment will include data from June 2025.
