Italy's trade surplus with non-EU countries plunges

Italy's trade surplus with non-EU countries dropped from 3.031 billion euros in January 2024 to 252 million euros last month, Istat said.

The national statistics agency added that the surplus excluding energy was 4.829 biillion euros in January, down from a surplus of 7.441 billion in the same month last year, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Istat said exports to non-EU27 countries increased by 2.7% in January compared with the same month of the previous year but imports rose by 17.9%.

Exports decreased by 1.0% and imports increased by 3.6% in January compared with December 2024, according to Istat's seasonally adjusted data.
