The producer price index and the import price index for the fourth quarter of 2024 have marked an increase in depreciation compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 as well as those of the third quarter of 2024.

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics reports that the overall producer price index in Kosovo increased by 0,1% between Q4 2024 and Q3 2024. Meanwhile, comparing Q4 2024 to Q4 2023, producer prices increased by an average of 8,5%, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

"Production prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 0,1% between Q4 2024 and Q3 2024. The largest increases by branches of economic activity are observed in: production of motor vehicles (transport), trailers and semi-trailers (12,8%); production of furniture (8,4%); water collection, treatment and supply (3,2%); food processing (0,8%); production of beverages (0,3%); electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (0,1%); and production of chemical products (0,1%)," the KAS report states.

According to this Agency, the increase was neutralized by the decrease in prices in: ores and other quarries by 5,2%, manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 3,9%, extraction of metal ores by 3,2%, manufacture of metals by 2,4%, manufacture of rubber and plastic products by 1,3%, and manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture: manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials by 0,1%.

Meanwhile, according to ASK, the annual increase in production prices is 8.5 percent.

“Production prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 8,5% between Q4 2024 and Q4 2023. The largest increases by branches of economic activity are observed in: electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (20,6%); manufacture of paper and paper products (11,0%); manufacture of machinery and equipment (10,5%); manufacture of furniture (10,3%); manufacture of leather and leather products (8,8%); processing of food products (6,9%); collection, treatment and supply of water (6,8%); manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture: manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (5,5%); manufacture of chemical products (4,4%); manufacture of metals (3,8%); "manufacture of beverages (3,6%); manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (1,6%); extraction of metal ores (1,2%); and manufacture of rubber and plastic products (1,0%)," the report states.

Import prices have also increased during this period.

According to ASK, the largest price increases by sector were in: leather and its articles 2,8%, machinery and electrical equipment 1,9%, plant products 1,5%, various manufactured articles 1,4%, textiles and textile articles 1,1%), wood and its articles 1,0%, optical, photographic, measuring, medical, musical instruments and clock mechanisms 0,4%, means of transport 0,3%, paper and its articles 0,3%, footwear 0,3%, prepared food, beverages and tobacco (0,2%); live animals and animal products (0,2%); and mineral products (0,1%). The increase was mainly neutralized by the decrease in prices by sector in: edible oils (-3,2%); plastics, rubber and their articles (-2,6%); base metals and articles of base metals (-1,6%); and articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (-0,7%).

Whereas, in the fourth quarter of 2024 - the fourth quarter of 2023, 0,5% Import prices in Kosovo rose to an average of 0,5% between Q4 2024 and Q4 2023.

"The largest increases by sector were in: plant products (7,7%); edible oils (6,6%); means of transport (3,7%); textiles and textile articles (2,4%), etc. The increase was mainly neutralized by the decline in prices by sector in: leather and its articles -13,9%); mineral products (-3,9%); various manufactured articles (-1,5%); basic metals and articles of basic metals (-1,3%); plastics, rubber and their articles (-0,7%) etc," the ASK report states.
