Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov has endorsed a National Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production until 2030. The announcement was made by Deputy Minister Lozana Vasileva at the 9th National Conference on Organic Farming in Bulgaria, held as part of the AGRA 2025 exhibition in Plovdiv, CE Report quotes BTA

The plan aligns with the European Commission's key pillars for organic production while considering Bulgaria's specific needs. It aims to expand organic farmland, increase the number of certified producers, boost consumer confidence, and promote the organic transition.

A key measure includes increasing the share of organic products in public procurement from 2% in 2024 to at least 10% by 2031. Vasileva also highlighted the importance of international trade fairs such as Biofach and the Green Week for promoting Bulgarian organic produce globally.

The conference gathered over 160 participants and featured discussions on market opportunities, regulatory updates, and support mechanisms for organic farmers.
