Bulgarian Stock Exchange Launches SpaceCrowd, the Country’s First Equity Crowdfunding Platform

Business

The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) has introduced SpaceCrowd, Bulgaria's first equity crowdfunding platform for startups and early-stage businesses. The platform, developed by BSE and the Central Depository, was officially presented by BSE CEO Manyu Moravenov, CE Report quotes BTA

Moravenov noted that Bulgaria’s crowdfunding market was unregulated until 2022 but has strong potential due to investor interest in young companies. While the Beam market supports innovative businesses, many startups are not yet mature enough to meet its criteria. SpaceCrowd aims to bridge this gap, offering funding opportunities for high-growth potential companies that may have already attracted private investors but need additional support.

The platform targets companies seeking to raise between BGN 200,000 and 2 million. Eligible businesses must be joint-stock companies, and investments will be facilitated through investment intermediaries and the platform itself. Initially focused on equity capital, SpaceCrowd may later expand to include loans and bonds.

Companies applying for funding will undergo an approval process before being listed on the platform, where investors can review their profiles and make investment decisions. The initiative offers new opportunities for investors to participate in Bulgaria’s growing venture financing market.
