Petar Dilov, born in Sofia in 1984, has built a distinguished career in finance and banking. A graduate of Sofia's University of National and World Economy, he later earned a master’s degree in European Business and Finance from Nottingham Trent University, UK, and completed training programs at top international banking institutions, CE Report quotes BTA

Since joining the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) in 2011, Dilov has risen to become a leading expert on cooperation with the European Central Bank, playing a pivotal role in Bulgaria's accession to the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the European Exchange Rate Mechanism II.

Dilov has been instrumental in aligning Bulgaria’s national legislation with EU regulations governing credit institutions, evaluating regulatory impacts on the banking system, and contributing to national asset quality reviews.

As a member of the Council of the European Union’s Working Party on Financial Services and the Banking Union, Dilov participated in drafting EU legislation aimed at reducing risks in the banking sector. He also represented the BNB in the European Central Bank and the European Banking Authority, solidifying his reputation as a key figure in European financial policymaking.
