Trump: Gaza Ceasefire Possible Soon
Former U.S. President Donald Trump said a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas could be reached as early as next week, citing a “positive” response from the Palestinian group to a U.S. proposal, according to media reports, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said Hamas had submitted a favorable reply to Egyptian and Qatari mediators and was ready to negotiate the implementation framework. A Hamas official said the group seeks guarantees for a full Israeli withdrawal and a lasting truce.
Trump reportedly proposed a 60-day ceasefire, with a possibility of extension.
Meanwhile, deadly violence continues in Gaza. At least 20 Palestinians were killed Friday while trying to access aid, and Israeli airstrikes on the Muwasi area killed 15 more, including women and a child.
Since the war began on October 7, 2023—with Hamas-led attacks that killed 1,200 Israelis—over 57,000 Palestinians have died, most of them women and children, according to Gaza health officials.
Israel faces international legal action, including genocide charges at the International Court of Justice and arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
