Peevski Confirmed as Sole MRF Leader

Bulgaria

The Sofia City Court has officially registered Delyan Peevski as the sole chairperson of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), finalizing a long internal power struggle within the party, CE Report quotes BTA

Peevski thanked supporters, saying, “We changed the course of history together!” He criticized past leadership and said MRF – New Beginning had been restored to the people.

The court ruling validates the leadership elected at the MRF’s National Conference in December 2024, where Peevski was unanimously chosen and significant changes to the party’s statutes were approved—ending the role of Honorary Chairperson and launching a youth chapter.

The decision leaves Ahmed Dogan’s faction with no formal control over the party. The Dogan group had already lost the party headquarters, website, and co-leadership after Dzhevdet Chakarov’s resignation in May. Its parliamentary group now operates under the name Alliance for Rights and Freedoms. Dogan recently announced a three-month transition to form a new political party.
