CC-DB Insists on Key Measures in Coalition Talks

Bulgaria

The Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition aims to include measures from its declaration on isolating MRF-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski in the coalition agreement, MP Ivaylo Mirchev announced on Monday. "We cannot compromise on this, as Democratic Bulgaria authored the declaration," Mirchev emphasized, CE Report quotes BTA

The first meeting on government formation is set for later Monday in the National Assembly, involving negotiating teams from GERB and DB. Mirchev noted that the CC-DB team, likely comprising five or six members, will aim for daily discussions to deliver meaningful progress before Christmas. He warned that holding an eighth election in three years would be detrimental.

Mirchev suggested that GERB's team would include figures already named by leader Boyko Borissov, such as Tomislav Donchev, Raya Nazaryan, and Rosen Zhelyazkov.

Addressing the issue of MP immunities, Mirchev criticized the prosecutor's office and Borislav Sarafov, accusing them of politically motivated actions. He stated, "We will do everything possible to prevent Sarafov from becoming Prosecutor General," and called for an end to such pressure tactics in Bulgarian politics.

Mirchev expressed hope that GERB leader Borissov would demonstrate leadership by incorporating all declaration measures into the coalition agreement, signaling a shift toward more constructive governance.
