
Albania launches Trauma Therapy Program for women prisoners
The Trauma Therapy Program has been launched at the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Judgments (IEVP) in Pojskë (Albania), under the professional supervision of Suela Kalasa and Vangjela Thomai, psychologists from the Directorate of Social Issues at the Directorate of Prisons.
During the introductory meeting, women serving their sentences were informed about the program’s content and objectives, which will be implemented by psychologist Aleksia Agolli, with the support of supervisor Rajna Bllazhda, CE Report quotes ATA.
According to the General Directorate of Prisons, “they sincerely shared their past experiences and challenges, expressing high willingness and enthusiasm to participate in this healing process.”
The program is part of a Council of Europe (CoE) initiative and will gradually be extended to other prison institutions, tailored to the specific needs of the incarcerated.
This initiative aims to strengthen efforts for rehabilitation and provide sustainable psychological support throughout the penitentiary system.
