War in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Monday that a new round of peace talks with Russia will take place in Türkiye on Wednesday.

In his evening address, Zelenskyy said he had discussed preparations and a potential prisoner exchange with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, who confirmed the meeting is scheduled for July 24. More details are expected soon, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking earlier to Ukrainian ambassadors, Zelenskyy emphasized that meaningful negotiations must occur at the level of national leaders and urged diplomats to rally international support for the talks.

Although Moscow has not officially commented, Russia’s state news agency RIA reported the talks will span July 24–25, citing unnamed sources.

Zelenskyy outlined Kyiv’s diplomatic priorities ahead of the talks, including strengthening sanctions on Russia, boosting air defense and drone supplies, and unlocking frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s defense.

He also highlighted Ukraine’s growing international partnerships, particularly with Türkiye and non-NATO formats such as the Crimean Platform and regional alliances across Europe.

Previous rounds of peace talks were held in Istanbul in May and June. The last session led to agreements on prisoner exchanges and the return of fallen soldiers’ remains.
