Cherevaty: AFU having priority in Bakhmut direction, enemy resisting

War in Ukraine

"Over the past day, nine combat engagements took place in Bakhmut direction. The defense forces have the priority here. The enemy actively resists, using artillery. The enemy launched 531 strikes with all types of artillery, carried out five air raids," Serhiy Cherevaty, spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said during the United News national telethon.

According to him, the enemy’s manpower was destroyed significantly – 63 occupiers were eliminated, 127 were wounded, and five more were captured.

Moreover, five enemy tanks, seven infantry fighting vehicles, two airborne fighting vehicles, a light armored artillery tractor, three field ammunition depots, three Orlan-10 UAVs, four Lancet kamikaze drones, and three vehicles were destroyed.

The spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces emphasized that the enemy's tactics were not new but the main problem for the defense forces was that the invaders were able to amass large forces and personnel resources.

"They are not well trained but they are bulky in their composition. Unfortunately, the enemy still has a lot of artillery and rounds for it. Now we have a period of stability, when the enemy has considerable strength but we, despite this, beat them and knock them out of our land. We are doing it in a measured, pragmatic and thoughtful manner to save people and equipment as much as possible," Cherevaty emphasized.
