How AI transforms daily workflows
A new survey showed that Generation Z employees are not only embracing artificial intelligence but also driving technology adoption in many workplaces.
Almost two-thirds of younger employees are actively helping older colleagues adopt and learn to use AI tools, according to a June survey of more than 2,000 professionals across the United States and the United Kingdom by hybrid workspace operator International Workplace Group, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
“This support often takes different forms, from hands-on guidance to sharing practical tips for integrating AI into daily workflows,” International Workplace Group founder and CEO Mark Dixon told CNBC Make It.
The exchange of knowledge is reshaping collaboration. About half of surveyed employees say AI is helping bridge generational divides. Four out of five senior executives said partnering with younger colleagues allows them to focus on “higher-value tasks,” while 82% credited these innovations with unlocking new business opportunities, according to the same Switzerland-based company report, published on September 3.
“Our research shows that older colleagues are showing a genuine openness toward AI and, just as importantly, toward learning from younger generations,” said Dixon, whose London-listed company owns brands such as Regus, Spaces, and HQ.
This two-way exchange not only reduces generational gaps but also flattens traditional hierarchies.
“What makes this dynamic so impactful is its reciprocity. Younger employees are leveraging their digital fluency to guide colleagues and introduce new ways of working, while senior colleagues contribute their experience, industry knowledge, and more strategic perspectives,” Dixon said.
By teaching others, Generation Z workers are also reinforcing their own AI skills. “This two-way exchange is not only bridging generational divides but also flattening traditional hierarchies,” Dixon added.
AI fosters collaboration
Overall, many employees are embracing AI’s potential to boost efficiency. Of the 2,016 office workers surveyed, 86% said AI has made them more efficient and 76% believe it helps their career — rising to 87% among Generation Z respondents. In addition, most surveyed employees report that technology is saving them time, with an average of 55 minutes gained each day.
The technology has also become important to how hybrid teams operate, with 69% of hybrid employees saying AI makes teamwork across different locations easier. Forty-six percent of respondents cited benefits such as improved meeting preparation, while 36% said it enhanced access to shared knowledge and stronger follow-up after meetings.
Some common areas where employees are using AI include drafting emails, taking meeting notes, organizing files, data entry, and completing forms. According to the report, with these tasks automated, employees can spend more time on high-impact and meaningful work.
“In today’s digital age, artificial intelligence is emerging as a powerful unifier across generations,” Dixon said. “This active exchange of knowledge and skills is bringing generations closer together, fostering open collaboration, and ultimately helping build a stronger and more resilient team.”
