Silicon Valley, known as a global hub for technology and innovation, is stepping in after the killing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, which shook the country, according to foxnews.com.

Eoghan McCabe, CEO and founder of Intercom, pledged $500,000 to commission murals of Zarutska’s face in major U.S. cities, CE Report quotes ATA.

However, McCabe’s initiative drew the attention of billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who responded with an offer to contribute $1 million.

Musk has also been vocal regarding the Zarutska case, particularly the media coverage of her killing and the public response.

A person working on the campaign, who spoke to Fox News Digital on condition of anonymity, said they are currently in talks with over 1,000 artists across the country and are looking for suitable locations to paint the murals.

Additionally, poster campaigns are being developed, which will appear in major U.S. cities.

The person said that McCabe was inspired by a desire not to let Zarutska be forgotten or ignored by the mainstream media, as her life was taken in such a brutal manner.

The source also mentioned a realization regarding the failures of left-wing policies.

Particularly, after George Floyd’s murder in 2020, murals and statues in his honor appeared in cities across the U.S.

Security camera footage of Zarutska being stabbed went viral, sparking debate about how criminals are treated and public safety.

The suspect, Decarlos Brown Jr., had 14 previous arrests when he allegedly stabbed Zarutska to death on a train.

Former President Donald Trump, who has taken a tough stance on crime in cities across the country, condemned the killing and said the video was “horrific.”

He also questioned why the suspect, whom he called a “mentally deranged” individual, was allowed to be released despite a long criminal record.
