
Lviv Hosts Sixth National Science and Technology Festival
The OL Science & Tech Fest 2025, held in Lviv to promote science and Ukrainian technology, attracted more than 3,000 visitors.

“The sixth national science and technology festival OL Science & Tech Fest 2025 took place on the campus of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Around 3,000 people attended… The festival aims to promote science, Ukrainian technologies, and to inspire youth to develop in these fields,” the statement reads.
The event brought together international and Ukrainian scientists, engineers, startup founders, IT industry leaders, and active youth.
Kip Thorne, Nobel Prize winner and theoretical physicist in the fields of astrophysics and gravitation, as well as scientific consultant and co-producer of the films Interstellar, Tenet, and Contact, spoke on the main stage. He shared his experience working on science-based films and expressed admiration for the resilience of the Ukrainian people.
Among other speakers at the festival were Vitalii Kyryliv, co-founder of the design bureau Hochu Rayu and military serviceman, Daria Ozerna, biology graduate and medical journalist, Borys Drozhak, co-founder of the miltech startup Rovertech, Kateryna Terletska, mathematician, Olena Kompaniiets, astrophysicist at the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Sofiia Tremba, founder and CEO of PEONY.
In Ivan Franko Park, more than 100 participants from leading universities and research centers to tech companies, startups, and social enterprises presented their scientific developments, innovations, and solutions.
The OL Science & Tech Fest team raised over 170,000 UAH to set up the Experimentarium.Area, a dedicated site for training and testing drones and robotics.
The festival took place as part of Lviv’s designation as the European Youth Capital 2025, supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, UNICEF, and with financial support from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the development bank KfW.
As previously reported, UNESCO supported Ukraine’s initiative to establish an International Day of Engagement with Science for Sustainable Development.
