Lamine Yamal near full recovery before World Cup start
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, the best player in the Spanish league for the 2025/26 season, will be ready after injury for Spain’s opening match at the World Cup on June 15 against Cape Verde.
As head coach Luis de la Fuente added, young Nico Williams will also be available, CE Report quotes STA.
Both Yamal and Williams (Athletic Bilbao) missed the end of the club season due to hamstring injuries, and their imminent return will be a major boost for the European champions.
Osasuna winger Víctor Muñoz is also expected to be ready for Spain’s opening match in Atlanta, although none of the three travelled to Mexico for the friendly against Peru, instead remaining in the training camp in the United States.
“We are sorry they are not here with us, but the medical and fitness staff advised them to stay in the United States,” De la Fuente said.
“All three should be available for the next match. They are recovering well and doing very well,” the coach added.
Spain will be one of the favorites for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, and the 18-year-old Yamal could be one of the biggest stars of the tournament.
