Lamine Yamal on Messi comparisons

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal scored a goal in the team’s 3–3 draw away to Belgian side Club Brugge in a Champions League match.

“I’m trying to do the best I can. The move was really fast, but Fermín passed me the ball and I managed to score,” Yamal said after the match.

He added that the speculation about his groin injury and claims that it had affected his mental state were exaggerated and fueled by false reports, CE Report quotes BTA.

“There was a lot of talk about my injury, that I was sad, but all that was lies. I was the same as always — very happy, focused on my work, trying to get back to training and play at the level where I feel best and enjoy myself the most,” he commented.

Yamal’s goal sparked comparisons with Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, but the Spanish international said he is not affected by that.

“Messi has scored thousands of goals like that. I have to make my own path, and I hope to score many more goals like this,” he added, as quoted by Reuters.
