Kosovo Ministry ranks 37 sports federations
The Ministria e Kulturës, Rinisë dhe Sportit has published the new classification list of sports federations for this year, with 37 federations ranked into four categories — A, B, C and D — based on points collected according to criteria defined by regulation.
Out of the 55 federations that are members of the Komiteti Olimpik i Kosovës, only those licensed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport were subject to the process and are eligible to receive funding from the state budget, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
In Category A this year are:
Federata e Xhudos e Kosovës, leading with 115.26 points
Federata e Karatesë e Kosovës with 97.5 points
Federata e Volejbollit e Kosovës with 88 points
Federata e Hendbollit e Kosovës with 87.8 points
Federata e Futbollit e Kosovës with 85.5 points
Federata e Basketbollit e Kosovës with 85.3 points
The last two federations returned to the top tier after previously being in Category B.
The remaining federations were placed in Categories B, C and D, depending on the evaluation of the relevant commission. According to the regulation signed on December 30, 2022, the authority for classification belongs to the Ministry (MKRS), whereas previously this process was carried out by the Olympic Committee.
The document states that federations have the right to appeal within five days to the MKRS Appeals Commission. The new classification is expected to directly affect the allocation of funds and institutional support for federations during this year.
