Lionel Messi wins “Landon Donovan” MVP award in MLS
Argentine star Lionel Messi is the first consecutive winner of the “Landon Donovan” award for the best player in the MLS league, after an excellent season in which he won the championship title with Inter Miami.
Messi joined Serbia’s Predrag Radosavljević – Preki (1997, 2003 with Kansas City) as the only player to win the MLS Most Valuable Player award twice, CE Report quotes MIA.
The Argentine veteran recorded two assists in Inter Miami’s 3–1 home victory over Vancouver on Saturday in the final match of the title playoffs.
The 38-year-old eight-time Ballon d’Or winner scored six goals and added nine assists in the playoffs, recording at least one goal and one assist in all six of Miami’s matches.
