Moldova strengthens its presence on judo map
The International Judo Tournament “Vasile Luca Memorial,” 29th edition, took place at the State University of Physical Education and Sport of the Republic of Moldova.
The competition brought together over 400 athletes from seven countries: Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova, turning the event into a true international judo festival, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
Athletes from the KODOKAN club in Moldova stood out with notable results. Valeria Durnescu won first place in the cadets category, achieving this performance in her first participation in a higher age class. She demonstrated ambition, discipline, and strong character, earning praise from both coaches and spectators.
Additionally, Gabriel Bejan and Gheorghe Stavilă were part of the delegation, and although they did not reach the podium, they impressed with their courage, determination, and exemplary attitude on the tatami.
Organizers and coaches Natalia Rubanovici and Igor Durnescu congratulated all athletes for their efforts and thanked the parents for their constant support. The event strengthened the Republic of Moldova’s presence on the international judo map and provided young athletes with valuable experience in a high-level competitive setting.
