Bulgaria unveils squad for Cardiff International Series

Bulgaria will field six athletes at the International Series badminton tournament for men and women in Cardiff, Wales, which opens Tuesday and runs until November 30.

Stefani Stoeva is top seed in the women’s singles draw and will begin against a qualifier. Notably, she will also compete in the women’s doubles event, this time partnering with Tsvetina Popivanova instead of her sister Gabriela Stoeva, CE Report quotes BTA.

Gergana Pavlova is the eighth seed and will open against Denmark’s Ann-Sofie Husher Ruus.

Gabriela Stoeva is entered in the mixed doubles with Evgeni Panev. The pair are second seeds and will face Greenland’s Maluk Tiger and Denmark’s Athene Lyduch Thornild in the first round.

Panev will also play in the men’s doubles alongside Tsvetomir Stoyanov, who will begin from the men’s singles qualifying rounds.

A total of 377 athletes will take part in the tournament.
