Inter Milan’s Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez has been placed under psychological care following a tragic traffic accident on Tuesday morning that claimed the life of 81-year-old Paolo Saibene in Fenegrò, near Como, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The incident occurred as Martinez was driving to Inter’s training center in Appiano Gentile. According to reports, the victim was in an electric mobility scooter and suddenly entered the roadway, resulting in a collision with the player’s car. Martinez reportedly tried to assist the elderly man immediately after the crash, but his efforts were unsuccessful.

Authorities have seized Martinez’s car and mobile phone as part of standard procedure, and the 27-year-old goalkeeper is under investigation for involuntary manslaughter, a routine legal step in such cases. Tests for alcohol and drugs returned negative results.

After returning home, Inter Milan arranged psychological support for Martinez, who remains in a state of shock. The club announced that he will miss at least one week of training and matches. The player has also deactivated his social media accounts to avoid exposure to negative comments.
