Cousin of Luka Sucic from Real Sociedad; both now play for Croatia
Inter’s new signing, Petar Sucic, made his Serie A debut on Monday during the Nerazzurri’s dominant 5-0 win over Torino, registering an assist and immediately showing chemistry and presence in Cristian Chivu’s midfield, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The 21-year-old joined Inter from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in June and made four appearances for the Nerazzurri in their Club World Cup campaign.
Speaking in an interview for the On Board series, Sucic opened up about his modest beginnings, growing up on a farm and helping his family take care of animals:
“I grew up in a small village, in a small town, with my family. We have a small farm — my father loves raising cows, so we have a few. As a kid, I sometimes helped milk them. It was fun. I liked that lifestyle, I think I had a happy childhood. I was very happy, spending all day outside. We had other animals too. That’s a part of my life I’ll always remember.”
Unlike many of his fellow professionals, Sucic stands out by choosing to stay away from social media. In an era where online presence can be essential, the midfielder’s choice is admirable.
When asked why he doesn’t have social media accounts, he explained:
“There’s no special reason. I just don’t like wasting my time on it. Social media can be useful, but you can lose up to five hours a day on it. I really enjoy living real life. We’re always under media attention and surrounded by journalists. After a match or a training session, I need to relax, clear my mind, and spend time with my friends and family. That’s the main reason I’m not on social media.”
Sucic is the cousin of Real Sociedad midfielder Luka Sucic, who also plays alongside him for the Croatian national team. Reflecting on their bond, the Inter player said:
“He grew up in Austria, but whenever he has free time, he visits me and we play just like we did when we were kids — when we never imagined we’d one day play for the national team together. We should be proud of ourselves, and our families are proud of us too. As kids, we used to watch the national team on TV together, and now we’re part of it. For me, it’s a special family story.”
