Arsenal Hit by Injury Blow: Saka Out for a Month
Arsenal is facing an injury crisis at the start of the season. After the news that Kai Havertz will be sidelined for several weeks due to a knee issue, Mikel Arteta’s squad suffered another major blow: star winger Bukayo Saka will be out for about a month, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The English winger was forced off in the 53rd minute of the weekend’s match against Leeds United at the Emirates, just minutes after scoring Arsenal’s second goal in a 5–0 win. Initially, it was thought to be a minor issue, but medical tests confirmed a thigh injury requiring recovery time.
As a result, the 22-year-old will miss the high-stakes clash against Liverpool at Anfield this weekend, a match expected to be decisive in the Premier League title race. His absence also affects England’s national team, as he will miss two World Cup 2026 qualifiers—against Andorra (September 6) and Serbia (September 9).
This is an unfortunate setback for Saka, who last season missed three months with a similar thigh injury. Although his return was carefully managed, the high workload and congested schedule seem to have taken a toll again.
Saka’s absence comes as Arsenal aim to challenge Manchester City for the title, forcing Arteta to find quick solutions to cover the gap left by two key players. In Saka’s place, Leandro Trossard is expected to see more minutes, while young winger Reiss Nelson may also be given more responsibility.
