Arsenal Set to Hijack Eze Transfer from Tottenham

Arsenal has agreed to a deal worth up to £67.5 million for Eberechi Eze and appears ready to sensationally hijack the English forward’s transfer from Tottenham, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

It is understood that Mikel Arteta’s side approached Crystal Palace for Eze after Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury during Arsenal’s win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsenal is still assessing the injury, but fears the German forward could be out for an extended period, even though early indications suggest it’s not extremely serious.

However, the uncertainty pushed Arsenal to accelerate their interest in Eze, with sources saying they have remained in constant contact with the 27-year-old’s representatives throughout the summer.

Tottenham seemed to be in a favorable position to sign him after stepping up their interest over the weekend and are believed to have agreed to a deal close to his £68 million release clause, which expired last week.

Nevertheless, with Arteta eager to strengthen his attacking options as they aim to become Premier League champions for the first time since 2004, it is understood that sporting director Andrea Berta and vice-chairman Tim Lewis contacted Palace on Wednesday to overtake their North London rivals.
