Coach Krasniqi Highlights Quality Edge and Increased Players Abroad
The Kosovo U17 women’s national team has started its final training camp ahead of the European Championship qualifying matches scheduled for October, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
During this camp, coach Sanije Krasniqi’s selected players will play two friendly matches against Montenegro, which will serve as direct preparation for the official matches against Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Wales.
According to the Football Federation of Kosovo, this camp follows a three-day training camp held in June and is the last before the Group B qualifiers. Krasniqi stated that these friendly matches are a good opportunity to assess their form.
“These matches will help us prepare for the October qualifiers. We are in the same group as Montenegro, so this is a match at the same level. I believe we are fairly matched opponents, but as a team, we have the quality advantage. Also, in this camp, we have invited more players from abroad, which helps us increase competition and the level of the team,” said coach Sanije Krasniqi.
22 players have been called up for this camp, most of whom are local, but there is an increase in the participation of girls playing for clubs outside Kosovo. According to Krasniqi, some of them are already part of the senior team projects, with the main goal being their development toward senior level and integration into European football.
“Our task is to develop these girls so they become seniors, find European clubs, and grow professionally. This is the 2009/2010 generation and it is better than the previous one. In younger age groups, it is always a challenge to have strong competition in every position, and in this generation, this is evident,” Krasniqi added.
The atmosphere in the Dardania camp is good, and the girls are working with dedication. Player Leona Maloku said the group is motivated and full of positive energy, while Donjeta Berisha expressed her excitement for the invitation and the chance to represent Kosovo.
The friendly matches against Montenegro will serve as a valuable test to evaluate the team’s current form and to determine the best lineup for the official matches in October.
