
Levski takes narrow lead over Sabah in UEFA Conference League
A late goal in the 98th minute gave PFC Levski Sofia the lead against Sabah FC in UEFA Conference League's third qualifiying round on Thursday in Sofia before the two teams meet in a week's time in Azerbaijan.
The Bulgarian club entered the competition after losing 0-1 on aggregate to Portugal's Braga in a close Europe League qualification tie, CE Report quotes BTA.
On Thursday, 21-year-old forward Borislav Rupanov scored in the dying moments of the game.
The statistics were on Levski's side as the Bulgarian team got the better of their opponents in nearly every metric - they held 65% of the ball possession, had more shots (14-7) and more corner kicks (6-1). Sabah's goalkeeper made three saves against just one for Svetoslav Vutsov.
If Levski Sofia manages to reach the next qualifying round, the club will meet either the Netherlands' AZ Alkmaar or Liechtenstein's Vaduz. The first fixture between the two teams ended in a 3-0 victory for AZ Alkmaar.
