Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has been sentenced to a year in prison on probation for tax evasion from his time as Real Madrid coach, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

According to Spanish news agency EFE, Ancelotti was sentenced to a year in prison on probation for failing to pay taxes on income earned from image rights while in charge of Real Madrid in 2014.

The legendary coach was cleared of a similar criminal offence from the 2015 financial year. Ancelotti has also been ordered to pay a fine of €386,361.93 to settle the matter.

The 66-year-old was given a suspended sentence and is not expected to spend a day in prison. As explained by Sky Sport Italia, non-violent crimes with sentences of under two years rarely result in prison in Spain.

The sentence is not expected to have any long-term impact on his duties as coach of the Brazil national team, a job he took up in mid-May at the end of his second term in charge of Real Madrid.
