Burgas is hosting Week 2 of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League, with Bulgaria set to face Japan on Wednesday at Arena Burgas, CE Report quotes BTA

Team captain Aleks Grozdanov expressed optimism ahead of the match, saying the squad is in high spirits and well-prepared. “We’re playing at home—morale is high. We’re looking forward to the games,” he said.

Grozdanov emphasized the strength of Bulgaria’s team spirit and powerful serves, noting that the support from home fans will play a key role. “We’re young, but our unity stands out. The energy from the crowd will be crucial,” he added.

The captain described the opening match against Japan as the toughest of the week due to their unique style of play. Bulgaria will also face Slovenia, Turkiye, and Ukraine in Burgas.

The Nations League runs from June 11 to August 3, with the final in Ningbo, China. Bulgaria is currently ranked tenth, with the top eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
