Croatian judoka star grabs silver at World Championships
Croatian judoka Lara Cvjetko won the silver medal in the under-70kg category at the World Judo Championships in Budapest after losing to Japan's Shiho Tanaka in the final by golden score.
With the four-minute bout ending in a stalemate, the match was decided just 13 seconds into extra time - to the delight of the Japanese side, CE Report quotes HINA.
This is the biggest achievement to date for the 26-year-old Tanaka, currently ranked 12th in the world. For Cvjetko, who is three years younger, it is her second world silver, having also reached the final in 2022 in Tashkent, where she was defeated by Barbara Matić.
In addition to her two world silvers, Cvjetko also holds two European bronze medals, won this year in Podgorica and last year in Zagreb.
