Romania secured first place at the 2025 Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (BMO), held April 25–30 in Sarajevo, after earning four gold and two silver medals, the Ministry of Education announced, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Gold medals were awarded to Emanuel Mazare (Alexandru Odobescu National College, Pitesti), Radu Stoleriu (Emil Racovita National College, Iasi), and Pavel Ciurea and Andrei Vila (Bucharest International High School of Informatics). Alexandru Ciobotea and David Ghibu, also from the Bucharest International High School of Informatics, took silver.

The Romanian team, led by professor Catalin Gherghe and teacher Ovidiu Sontea, scored 198 points, outperforming 22 participating countries and regions, including invited teams from the UK, France, and Saudi Arabia.
