Romania and Qatar Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Security and Digitalization

Romanian Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu met with Qatar’s Ambassador to Romania, Osama Yousef Abdullah Alqaradawy, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in cybersecurity, police service digitization, and institutional capacity development, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Predoiu highlighted Romania’s interest in Qatar’s advancements in digital police services and civil administration, exploring potential collaboration. He emphasized the need to integrate new technologies into the Interior Ministry's (MAI) operations, including drones for border security and emergency response, as well as artificial intelligence in civil services.

The meeting also covered emergency response cooperation, with Predoiu inviting Qatari authorities to participate in Romania’s 2025 ConvEx-3 exercise under the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing dialogue and technological advancements, aiming to modernize public safety and security through innovation.
