Romanian Ambassador to Sofia, Brandusa Predescu, presented former Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha with the Grand Cross of the National Order of the Star of Romania during a ceremony at the Romanian Embassy in Sofia, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The honor, awarded by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in November 2024, recognizes Saxe-Coburg-Gotha’s exceptional contributions to strengthening Romanian-Bulgarian relations and supporting Romania’s European initiatives.

Expressing his gratitude, the former prime minister noted the collaborative efforts that led to this achievement, emphasizing his belief in joint progress from his first day in office. He also highlighted Romania's improved image in the West, which he supported through his international connections.

The distinction was part of a series of awards granted to Bulgarian officials and cultural figures, including caretaker Culture Minister Nayden Todorov, Sofia University Lecturer Lora Nenkovska, and Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov, among others.
