Serbia, Switzerland discuss further cooperation, regional issues
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić spoke with members of the Switzerland-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group about opportunities for further enhancing bilateral cooperation, the situation in the region, and other issues of common interest, expressing particular satisfaction that the visit is taking place in a year marking the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Noting that bilateral relations are very good and characterised by diverse and intensive cooperation in various areas – from political dialogue at high and highest levels, through strong cooperation in the economy, financial sector and services, cooperation in the fields of justice and migration, to cooperation in science and high technologies – Đurić pointed out that regular political and economic dialogue provides a good basis for further strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Particular attention was paid to the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, CE Report informs via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia's official website.
Minister Đurić briefed his interlocutors on the systematic violation of the rights and freedoms of Serbs in the southern autonomous province, thanking the parliamentarians for raising and addressing this issue in the Swiss public and Federal Parliament, as well as at the level of European international organisations.
Both sides noted that the large and economically well-integrated Serbian diaspora in Switzerland can contribute to further expanding successful cooperation in the economic sphere, as well as in other areas of common interest.
Minister Đurić, expressing gratitude for Switzerland’s confirmed participation in the International Specialized Exhibition Expo 2027, briefed the guests on the progress achieved in implementing the project, which will provide numerous countries with an opportunity to promote their economic, tourism, technological and other achievements.
