North Macedonia, Türkiye sign social services Cooperation Memorandum
The Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the field of social services.
The document was signed by North Macedonia’s Minister of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, Gjoko Velkovski, and Türkiye’s Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, CE Report informs via the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth of the Republic of North Macedonia's official website.
The memorandum provides a basis for deepening institutional cooperation and exchanging knowledge, experience and best practices in several areas important for improving social protection and citizens’ well-being.
The cooperation covers areas related to strengthening families, developing and improving social services for families, women, children, persons with disabilities and older people, as well as improving the social integration of people affected by addictions.
Special attention will also be given to improving employment policies and services for persons with disabilities and ensuring their full and effective participation in society, supporting active ageing, developing child services, empowering women and creating cooperation mechanisms in the fight against violence against women.
The memorandum also envisages the exchange of experiences in the field of social assistance, social service practices, their monitoring and evaluation, as well as the application of cultural, demographic and socio-economic analyses aimed at improving living conditions for Roma citizens.
Cooperation between the two ministries will be carried out through the exchange of knowledge, documents and best practices, expert exchanges, as well as the organization of conferences, seminars and professional meetings.
“By signing this Memorandum, we are creating an additional foundation for the exchange of experience and knowledge and for improving social policies and services. Our goal is to transform good practices and experiences into concrete solutions that will contribute to a better quality of life and stronger social protection for citizens,” said Minister Gjoko Velkovski.
The memorandum establishes a framework for continuous institutional communication and coordination between the two ministries, with the aim of exchanging experiences and jointly improving policies and services in the field of social protection.
The memorandum has been concluded for a period of five years, with the possibility of automatic extension.
