Slovenia to sign agreement on Expo 2027 Belgrade participation

Slovenian Minister of Economy Anže Logar is currently on a working visit to Serbia.

The purpose of the visit is to further strengthen economic cooperation with the largest of the former Yugoslav republics.

Special attention is being given to Slovenia’s participation in the specialised World Expo 2027 in Belgrade, CE Report quotes STA.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, economic cooperation with Serbia is extremely important for Slovenia, both in terms of trade in goods and services and investment.

Last year, trade in goods between Slovenia and Serbia reached nearly €2.1 billion, placing Serbia 12th among Slovenia’s most important trading partners.

By the end of 2025, Slovenian investments in Serbia had also reached approximately the same amount.

Further Strengthening Economic Cooperation

The purpose of the working visit is to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries, which, according to the ministry, is characterised by historically similar development paths and close ties, as well as to identify new opportunities for deepening relations.

The ministry sees such opportunities in municipal infrastructure, environmental protection, the circular economy, renewable energy sources and digital technologies, as well as the digitalisation of public administration, sustainable development, railway infrastructure, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and waste and wastewater management.

Expo 2027 Cooperation Agreement

Special attention is being given to the signing of an agreement on Slovenia’s participation in the specialised Expo 2027 World Exhibition in Belgrade. The agreement will be signed on behalf of Slovenia by Slovenia’s Commissioner General for Expo 2027, Saša Lavrič.

The visit will also include bilateral meetings with Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski and Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević.
