Bosnia, UN sign 2026-2030 Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework
Bosnia and Herzegovina Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers Borjana Krišto and UN Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina Arnhild Spence signed the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026–2030 in Sarajevo.
The parties reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implementing the 2030 Agenda in the country, CE Report informs via the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina's official website.
The Cooperation Framework is the principal strategic document defining collaboration between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UN system over the next five years. It will guide joint efforts to address the country's development needs and support the implementation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's development priorities.
Krišto said that the signing of the document confirms the shared commitment of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations to accelerating sustainable development, strengthening institutions, improving citizens' quality of life, and building a more inclusive, resilient and prosperous society.
UN Resident Coordinator Arnhild Spence said the Cooperation Framework marks an important new chapter in the partnership between the United Nations and the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She noted that it is aligned with the country's Sustainable Development Goals implementation framework and Reform Agenda.
Reflecting the strong commitment of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the framework sets out a shared vision focused on inclusive green growth, human capital development, accountable institutions and social cohesion. She added that the United Nations remains committed to working with partners in the country to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The document establishes three strategic cooperation priorities: inclusive green growth, human capital development, and accountable institutions and social cohesion. Its implementation will be based on a coordinated approach and partnership with government institutions at all levels, while respecting their competencies, development policies and legislative framework. It also includes continuous consultations with civil society organizations, development partners and other relevant stakeholders.
The framework was developed jointly by the United Nations Country Team in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Inter-Ministerial Working Group for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. It builds on the successful cooperation under the previous Cooperation Framework for the 2021–2025 period.
