Trump names himself “acting president of Venezuela”
U.S. President Donald Trump has posted an image presenting himself as the “acting president of Venezuela,” a move that comes days after U.S. forces captured the former president of the South American nation, Nicolás Maduro.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump listed the title as effective from January 2026, reinforcing his stated intention to oversee the country during a transitional period,CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

All of this followed a U.S. military operation on January 3 in Caracas that resulted in the capture of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who are now facing drug and weapons charges in a New York court.
As reported by CE Report, after the operation, Maduro’s vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, was sworn in as interim president. The Trump administration has stated that it intends to “run” Venezuela.
