Life in Caracas is gradually returning to normal after residents stayed indoors following a US attack, but a sense of unease remains on the streets of the Venezuelan capital, a representative of the Croatian community told Hina on Monday.

Marina Krizmanić Zorn said daily activities were resuming slowly, though people were moving about with fear and dissatisfaction over recent events, CE Report quotes HINA.

She said Croats in Venezuela had not reported any special needs, despite precautionary purchases of food and medicines, adding that around 4,000 people of Croatian origin live in the country.

The United States unexpectedly bombed military bases in Caracas overnight on Saturday and abducted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. US President Donald Trump threatened to take control of the oil-rich country.

Krizmanić Zorn said there were no soldiers on the streets in her neighbourhood, but on Sunday large groups of paramilitary motorcyclists passed through the area, expressing support for the abducted President Maduro and his government.
