Serbia’s EU ambitions gain visibility
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić attended a working dinner in Brussels organized by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, António Costa.
“In our discussion, we paid special attention to the energy sector, focusing on Serbia’s energy security and stability,” Vučić wrote on Instagram, CE Report quotes MIA.
“Serbia remains firmly committed to its strategic goal — EU membership — and continues to be a reliable and responsible partner of the EU in all processes that contribute to peace, stability, and the prosperity of our citizens,” President Aleksandar Vučić stated.
On his Instagram profile, he added that he had discussed Serbia’s European path, the country’s energy security and stability, as well as the regional situation with EU representatives.
“It was a great honor for Serbia that I had the opportunity this evening in Brussels to speak with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, António Costa, about key issues in the bilateral relations between Serbia and the EU and our European path. I am grateful for their hospitality and genuine support for our country, our EU path, as well as for our reform and development agenda,” Vučić wrote.
He added that he exchanged views with his hosts on all the steps Serbia has taken to implement reforms and fulfill its obligations.
“Special attention was given to the energy sector, with a focus on Serbia’s energy security and stability. We also discussed the current momentum in the EU’s enlargement policy, the situation in the region, and possibilities for accelerating our European path.”
