A group of judges and prosecutors from across Serbia gathered this afternoon in front of the Constitutional Court in Belgrade, in a protest against political pressure on the judiciary.

As previously announced, the protest is being held primarily because a prosecutor from the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade was not allowed to conduct an investigation into an incident at the tent settlement in front of the National Assembly, CE Report quotes MIA.

The group of judges and prosecutors from all over Serbia called on judges, prosecutors, lawyers, students, and citizens to protest against what they describe as political pressure on the judiciary, as well as against the announced amendments to the law concerning the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime.

A large number of people gathered in front of the Constitutional Court, where the protest began with the national anthem.

The judges and prosecutors are supported by citizens and students, and the crowd is carrying faculty flags, banners of civic groups, and blowing whistles and vuvuzelas.
