UK to drastically cut refugee protections
The United Kingdom will drastically reduce protections for refugees: the Labour government has confirmed this, after the news was revealed in recent days by the BBC.
“I will put an end to the UK’s golden ticket for asylum seekers,” declared Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood in a statement.
Among the measures announced are the reduction of refugee status duration from 5 years to 30 months, with periodic review, while it will take 20 years instead of 5 to apply for permanent residence, CE Report quotes ANSA.
The full package of measures will be detailed in Parliament on Monday by Minister Mahmood.
