Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, congratulated Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, on Syria’s recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

In a post on social media platform X, Spiropali emphasized that Kosovo is gaining its deserved place within the larger family of nations, CE Report quotes ATA.

“Kosovo is progressing on the path of strengthening its international standing, thanks to the efforts of its people and institutions in building a democratic and developed state, as well as the support of friends and partners who have aided its recognition and state-building process,” Spiropali wrote.

The minister also expressed her gratitude to His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, for supporting the recognition.

“I am confident that, recognition by recognition, the Republic of Kosovo will secure its deserved place in the global family of nations. Once again, congratulations to Kosovo!” the minister added.

Syria’s recognition is the third for Kosovo this year, following acknowledgments by two African states, Sudan and Kenya. Prior to these, the last country to recognize Kosovo’s independence was Israel in 2021. Syria has now become the 120th country to recognize Kosovo.
