Kim Jong-un vows to build “rich socialist paradise” in North Korea
Kim Jong-un vowed to transform North Korea into a "rich and beautiful socialist paradise" during a mass event at Pyongyang’s May Day Stadium, marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party, CE Report quotes ANSA.
According to state news agency KCNA, Kim recalled the party's past strategy of simultaneous nuclear and economic development, claiming it was a necessary response to rising nuclear threats from “American imperialists” during global unrest in the 1990s.
“There has never been a country like ours, facing so many defense and construction tasks under constant external pressure,” he said, adding that North Korea’s “international prestige” among socialist nations continues to rise.
Kim promised that if the country continues its current path for a few more years, it will undergo an extraordinary transformation.
“I will surely turn this country into the greatest socialist paradise in the world,” he declared, addressing tens of thousands of North Koreans and a delegation of foreign guests.
Key attendees included Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Russian Security Council Vice-Chair Dmitry Medvedev, and Vietnamese Communist Party leader To Lam.
Thursday's celebrations featured fireworks, mass games, and artistic performances. Kim also attended a Russian delegation’s concert, including singer Shaman, alongside his sister Kim Yo-jong and Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, calling it a “unique contribution” to North Korea–Russia friendship.
