Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi called Moscow’s comments “interference in internal affairs” and stressed that Moldova is a sovereign state no longer under Russian influence.
“We follow our national interest to ensure peace and prosperity within the European family,” Popșoi said, adding that the Foreign Ministry is considering steps to defend Moldova’s sovereignty.
Russian officials, including Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, condemned the verdict as political pressure, while State Duma member Konstantin Zatulin made provocative remarks about military action near Transnistria.
